Dr. Christine Ortiz

Dr. Christine Ortiz Guzman is the chair of the Galileo School Strategic Planning Committee and member of the Galileo School Curriculum Committee. A proud graduate of Seminole County Public Schools, she is the first in her family to have a college degree. Christine has a BS from MIT, Masters in Education and Non-Profit Management, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership from Harvard University. At Harvard, she designed and facilitated a multi-day convening to design structures to build a system of quality teaching. She was recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as playing a key role in shaping the central Florida community. In 2012, she received an Excellence Award from the metro Orlando Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She is the founder of two former schools in central Florida, Ampersand Academy and Lawton Chiles Prep. She has supported the design and launch of many innovative schools, including leading a national innovative school model accelerator, and looks forward to bringing that experience to Galileo. She is currently the chief executive officer and founder of Equity Meets Design. Dr. Ortiz Guzman has a passion for education innovation and equity.
